My name is Kim, I’m an Italian American from Northern New Jersey, and njsweets is my online persona.
I have battled weight issues for most of my life. I remember dieting at the age of 11 or 12 and joining Weight Watchers for the first time at the age of 13. I had already reached my full adult height of 5′ 3 1/4″ tall and weighed 130 at the time. Fat?! I suffered as a teenager — was tormented daily as I walked the halls in school. I spent 2 summers at Fat Camp, and came back looking great, but I was still tormented until the day I graduated and beyond. Yes, I was even moo’d at.
I battled food issues for years, failing diet after diet, and believe me I tried them all. I lost and gained back 100 lbs more times than I can imagine. I’m a carb addicted obsessive closet overeater who self-medicated the little girl inside with fast food, and by September 2005 I tipped the scales at 309 lbs. After a family intervention on Labor Day, I agreed to go to a Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) seminar, and finally said “Okay. I’ll do it.” On the morning of 11-07-2005 I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery.
This blog is about me & my journey. Welcome to my domain.
Kim I look forward to reading your blog. You look awesome and it is great to see you have had success so far with the WLS.
Keep it up.
Jim
